March 30, 2007 at 7:23 am (Uncategorized)

My call teacher, Patrick, want our class to watch the video below which is about “betelnut beauties” in Taiwan and answer the following questions:

1. The man at the beginning says this topic is interesting for what reasons?

The man at the beginning says this topic is interesting because it is complicated, political, the culture, envieronment and health.

2. The girl “Jane” says some positive things about being a betel nut girl. What are they?

The positive things are the money is good and the workload is not so much, and you don’t very much responsibility.
3. The doctor says that binlan is responsible for what? How much?

The doctor says that binlan is responsible for it makes almost 80% people who have oral cancer.
4. DO you think binlan beauties are ok? Why or why not?

I think binlan beauties are ok because that is just a job, we don’t need  to think the bad way.

5. Do you think binlan should be illegal? Why or why not?

I think binlan should be illegal because the thing they’re sells is not healthy for people.

Greek Mythology’s Influence on the English Language 希臘神話對英文的影響

March 15, 2007 at 3:15 pm (Uncategorized)

This is a story from the Taiwan News Online .

This story is about Greek Mythology and English Language.

”Achilles’ heel”  and “Pandora’s box”  ane the story in Greek Mythology, but in English, they’re means “a seemingly small but actually crucial weakness.” and “a source of many unforeseen troubles.”

I think it is very fun this two things are in the same website because I have ever never thought that some of English lexicon and originated from Greek mythology.

“There you’ll be” – a song in “Pearl Harbor”

March 3, 2007 at 1:11 pm (Uncategorized)

This song was called There you be, and was sung by Faith Hill.

Somebody says the song’s lyrics are so touching and meaningful,
I think that is absolutely right and I really like this song.

It came out in 2001, and I was in 9 age.
When I first heard it was in the DVD of Pearl Harbor,it was called chên chu kang(珍珠港) in Chinese.
I think this song is worth to be listened.

When I think back on these times
And the dreams we left behind
I’ll be glad cuz I was blessed to get to have you in my life
When I look back on these days
I’ll look and see your face
You were right there for me

* In my dreams I’ll always see you soar above the sky
In my heart there’ll always be a place for you for all my life
I’ll keep a part of you with me
And everywhere I am there you’ll be
And everywhere I am there you’ll be

Well you showed me how it feels
To feel the sky within my reach
And I always will remember all the strength you gave to me
Your love made me make it through
Oh I owe so much to you
You were right there for me

Repeat*

Cuz I always saw in you my light my strength
And I want to thank you now for all the ways
You were right there for me x3
For always

Repeat*

There you be

Boa – a singer from Korea

March 2, 2007 at 7:27 pm (Uncategorized)

As the title, Boa comes from Korea, but she has stayed in Japan for many years.
She started to sing when she was 15, and she’s 21 now.

” MADE IN TWENTY ” is her new album in 2007.
I think all of Boa’s song are good to listen.
